The Genuine Scooter Company has released photos and detailed information on the much-awaited Buddy 170i. It’s got some impressive specs, and at $3,299 the price is very competitive. I’ve never really cared for the two-tone Buddy models but the Oxford and Zephyr look great with racing stripes. It’ll make a heckuva commuter bike. I’m sure Scoot Richmond will carry it, along with the rest of the Genuine Scooter Company product line.
Nolan N43 Trilogy Helmet

I recently purchased a Nolan N43 Trilogy helmet from Scoot Richmond and want to share some of the things I like and dislike about it. The reason for my initial interest in the Trilogy was its modularity: it can serve as a full-face, 3/4 or open face helmet. All of the equipment for the three modes is included in the package and it’s easy to switch between them. As a modular helmet system it works great. It turns out, however, that the modularity of the helmet is largely pointless and far from its strongest selling point. This is because: The removable chin bar is so pleasant and unobtrusive that it makes the 3/4 mode unnecessary. The thick helmet padding makes the open face mode look ridiculous. If you’re interested in a stylish, retro-looking open face helmet, the N43 Trilogy is not it. As a full-face helmet it’s a dream. There is effectively no restriction of the wearer’s sight, with eyes extended to the limits of their motion the edges of the helmet can barely be seen. Even in 3/4 mode the helmet is far superior to my old AGV Blade, which blew wind in my eyes, but the only reason to leave the Trilogy in 3/4 mode is that it’s easier to put on and remove from your head without the chin bar. Once it’s on the wearer will scarcely be aware of the chin bar, and given the safety advantages there’s no practical point in wearing the helmet without it. It’s even possible to mount and remove the chin bar when the helmet is on the wearer’s head, if comfort when putting on or removing the helmet is an issue. While the Trilogy is good at preventing wind from blowing into the wearer’s eyes, it still manages to ventilate well. There is a top-mounted vent that can be opened or closed via a glove-friendly switch, and rear vents that allow the air current to escape. In this function it’s better than my old Blade, because the single vent switch is easier to manipulate than the dual-switches on the Blade. It’s quiet; it’s the quietest helmet I’ve worn. Wind noise is minimal, but as a test I snapped my gloved fingers next to the helmet while riding at moderate speed and was able to hear the snap. So the N43 seems to be effective not just at maximizing the wearer’s visual range but also auditory range – less wind noise and better hearing. The Trilogy also sports an integral sun visor operated with a glove-friendly slider on the left side of the helmet. It slips down closer to the face than the clear shield and is extremely effective at minimizing glare riding toward the sun when it’s low in the sky. For normal daylight riding, however, I prefer my amber-tinted sunglasses. I would not rely on the sun visor as the sole means of eye protection – as a shield it leaves too much space and bugs or sand could...

Just in time for this year’s Dogwood Classic rally (and all the other ones going on). So you decided to ride your 2-wheeled beauty all the way to the campgrounds, right? It’s about time you rewarded your mechanical stead with a portable garage out there. The Nomad offers 30 square feet of interior room, weighs just 13 lbs. when packed, and requires only three poles for assembly. It will protect you, a friend and a bike on those weekend events in the middle of God knows where. At $400, it had better. I know what i’m getting.
This one is a bit unusual. You might not catch it the first time you look, but once you get past the obvious stuff like the top case and wind deflector, then you start to notice that this thing’s got two seats! And two sets of foot pegs! (and two pipes, I don’t know what’s going on there.) But, this is the first two passenger / stretch Motocompo I’ve seen. I wish I knew more about this contraption. Thanks to www.thescooterscoop.com for this awesome post! No Tags

I’d be the first in line, but I think my 2-stroke will get jealous. I know a bunch of the 7 Hills members are Buddy lovers, but look at it! This janx is tight! (*no disrespect to Buddy owners.
